{"id":158,"date":"2015-10-14T10:46:46","date_gmt":"2015-10-14T10:46:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intentip.cut.ac.cy\/?p=158"},"modified":"2015-10-26T14:44:39","modified_gmt":"2015-10-26T14:44:39","slug":"patent-on-the-method-of-priming-plants-against-abiotic-stress-factors-and-promoting-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/intentip.cut.ac.cy\/EL\/2015\/10\/14\/patent-on-the-method-of-priming-plants-against-abiotic-stress-factors-and-promoting-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"Patent on the Method of priming plants against abiotic stress factors and promoting growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Dr. Vasileios Fotopoulos at the Department of Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology &amp; Food Science (Group of Plant Stress Physiology;\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/plant-stress.weebly.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">http:\/\/plant-stress.weebly.com<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\">) has registered an international patent (WO\u00a0<a href=\"tel:2015123273\" target=\"_blank\">2015123273<\/a>\u00a0A1) along with Prof. Koshrow Kashfi at the City University of New York titled \u201cMethod of priming plants against abiotic stress factors and promoting growth\u201d (link:\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/patents\/WO2015123273A1?cl=en&amp;hl=el\" target=\"_blank\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">http:\/\/www.google.com\/patents\/WO2015123273A1?cl=en&amp;hl=el<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\">).<\/span><br \/>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\">The patent describes a<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0method of reducing cellular damage to a plant as a result of abiotic stress factors such as drought or salinity by treating the plant with a compound containing an NO-releasing moiety and an H<sub>2<\/sub>S -releasing moiety covalently bonded to an aspirin-derived core (NOSH-aspirin).\u00a0The compound may also be used as a method of promoting plant growth.
